Folklore taken seriously. Evidence taken honestly.
Cryptid Index is written for curious readers who want the real story, not just the spooky version.
Every entry is built from published accounts, scholarship, museum records and original documents, with numbered references you can check yourself.
Where a sighting was a hoax, a misidentified animal or a later invention, we say so, and we explain how the legend grew.
When we find an error, we fix it and note the change at the end of the entry, so readers know what was revised and why.
